Pre-planned operation on Foxbar home recovers more than half a million 'fake Valium' pills

A woman is expected to appear at court today

Police Scotland have arrested a woman and recovered more than half a million Etizolam tablets, also known as 'street Valium’, from a home in Paisley.

The pre-planned police operation took part in the Foxbar area of Paisley when officers, who served a warrant, searched the house and recovered drugs worth an estimated street value of £250,000.

The raid happened at around 5.55pm on Wednesday.

A 45-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure. She is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on today.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross said: "This is a significant recovery and our communities are safer having these drugs out of circulation. They cannot be sold and they cannot bring harm and misery to people's lives.

"This was a pre-planned operation and shows our determination to combat drug abuse. I would urge anyone with information about drugs in their community to contact police and be assured that action will be taken."
